I wish I could remember
The way things were
And the great times I had
But It’s all a blur.
My friends played so rough.
We always screamed, "Grrr!"
Which game did we play?
That's still all a blur.
Did my friends love me?
Was it really pure?
I wish I remembered.
It’s all just a blur.
A fire started.
That day I lost her.
My sister was young
So it’s all a blur.
I think we got along.
I think I loved her.
It’s been so long
That it’s all a blur.
I had a kitten
With beautiful fur.
I don’t know its name.
It’s all just a blur.
My parents lived at home
They didn’t concur
My daddy left me.
He’s all just a blur.
I want to remember
Events as they were.
But I can’t remember.
It is all a blur.
Wow this is really good! Did you just make this up or is it based off of something?
ReplyDeleteLeah, this is a great poem! I love the repetative voice and how there are some rhymes, but not too much. Amazing job!
ReplyDeleteVery nice! The way you put the poem into a sing-song style, like a child's poem, and then addressed those serious topics was really cool contrast. This poem has an almost haunting feeling to it.
ReplyDeleteThis is a pretty cool poem. You used repetition really well, and it flows really nicely.
ReplyDeleteMy inspiration came from me not remembering some of the things from my childhood, like when I went to Paris and London when I was 10 months old. I decided to write about someone who didn't remember their childhood, but the events in the poem never actually happened to me.
ReplyDeleteLeah, I love this poem! I really like the repetitive pattern and your rhyming throughout it. The story is so sad, though :(
ReplyDeleteLeah, this is great! Even though it's sad, it has a very big effect. I love how you repeated the blur part throughout the whole thing. I don't think that you need to work on anything in this poem, it's perfect the way it is!
ReplyDeleteWOW! That's all I can really say. That was an amazing poem. You should be very proud of this. It touches on some serious topics but doesn't go too deep and it also has some playful rhymes and everything.. This was great Leah:D
